英語中常用的“吃”的單詞為eat，但在實際應用中我們可以根據不同的場合，句中的不同的搭配選用不同的單詞來表示“吃”，比如，常見用的動詞take、have、like等等。

1.dine這個動詞指“進餐；吃飯”，是一個正式用詞。比如：We always dine out at weekends.我們周末總是在外吃飯。

We dined with my parents at a restaurant in town.我們同我父母在城里一家餐館吃飯。Forty percent of motorists regularly dine while driving. 40%的汽車司機經常在開車的時候吃飯。

2.take可以同medicine搭配使用，指“吃，吃藥”。比如：The doctor has given me some medicine to take for my cough.醫生已給我開了治咳嗽的藥吃。You must remind him to take his medicine, in case he forgets.你要盯著他吃藥，別讓他忘了。

3.have作為動詞表示“吃”時，常與breakfast/lunch/dinner搭配使用。比如：I got up late this morning and did not have breakfast.我今天早晨起晚了，沒吃早飯。
